What We Believe

What We Believe

Here at Sunny Slope we are a simple people trying to live according to the simple Gospel which is taught in God’s Word. As Christians, we hold Jesus Christ as our example and our Savior. The Gospel was brought forth to man through God’s beloved Son and through writers that were inspired by the Holy Spirit. Our authority in faith and practice is the Bible. We do not subscribe to human tradition or doctrines, but only to the simplicity that is in Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:3)

Simplicity: the quality or condition of being easy to understand or do.

We believe God’s will is easy to understand and do. We must trust our Savior and be obedient to his word. After all Christ was obedient to the will of the Father and he gave himself for us. So must we for him.

As individuals we identify ourselves only as Christians (Acts 11:26). As a congregation we identify ourselves as the church of Christ (Romans 16:16). This explains our relationship with Christ. We are of Christ, having believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (John 8:24); having repented of our sins (having a change of heart which results in a change of lifestyle) (Acts 2:38); having confessed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Acts 8:37); and having been baptized (immersed) “into Christ” (Galatians 3:26,27). All spiritual blessings are found in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). It is by His authority each one was immersed in water with the understanding that baptism is necessary to receive the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21; Revelation 1:5).

We invite you to come and worship with us!
